John Buchbinder founded Grand Renovation 25 years ago because of his interest in brownstone architecture in particular and construction in general. John has a Master of Fine Arts from Pratt and a BA from Vassar in History, each of which helps to inform his understanding of architectural history and generate creative responses to unusual construction and aesthetic problems. The Landmarks Conservancy invited Grand Renovation to become a member of their Professional Circle because of John's commitment to and understanding of New York's architectural heritage.
Brian Buchbinder has been a partner in Grand Renovation for the last 14 years. His BA in history from Columbia, and his Law degree from NYU have helped to focus the mission and dedication of Grand Renovation to outstanding service and quality.
Over the years, Grand Renovation has worked on a wide array of construction projects, from small renovations to the complete restoration of a period townhouse. Building in New York City raises special issues that require specialized responses. There are tactical and logistical issues of working in this environment that require a level of expertise and sensitivity that come only with experience.
